CHAPTER 01 · CANNABINOIDS

THC vs. CBD, the cheat sheet

The plant makes 100+ compounds called cannabinoids. Two do most of the heavy lifting.

THC TETRAHYDROCANNABINOL

The one that gets you high.

THC is the intoxicating cannabinoid — it's what creates the buzz. How it lands depends on the dose, the product and the person.

Commonly reported: euphoria, relaxation, appetite, an altered sense of time.

Energizing or sleepy, depending on the product and dose.

Too much can mean anxiety or discomfort — dose matters most.

NY LEGAL FOR ADULTS 21+ · STILL FEDERALLY ILLEGAL

CBD CANNABIDIOL

Mellow, without the high.

CBD isn't intoxicating on its own. Many people pair it with low-dose THC to smooth out the ride; research on its effects is ongoing.

Often described as calming and settling, not buzzy.

A common starting point for cautious first-timers.

Higher CBD:THC ratios = a gentler experience.

NON-INTOXICATING · CAN STILL SHOW ON DRUG TESTS

THE RATIO MATTERS — HOW TO READ A LABEL

20:1 CBD:THC

All calm, no buzz. The gentlest lane.

5:1 CBD:THC

A light edge — popular with new folks.

1:1

Balanced and manageable, day or night.

1:20 CBD:THC

The classic high. Know your dose first.

CHAPTER 02 · TERPENES

Why smell matters

Terpenes are the aromatic oils that make lemons lemony and pine forests piney — and they shape how a strain feels. Two jars with identical THC numbers can land completely differently. Read the terpene profile, not just the THC percentage — and trust your nose.

Myrcene

ALSO IN: MANGO, HOPS, THYME

Earthy and musky. The classic "couch" terpene — common in strains people reach for at night.

Limonene

ALSO IN: CITRUS PEEL, JUNIPER

Bright lemon-orange lift. Often associated with sunnier, more social moods.

Pinene

ALSO IN: PINE NEEDLES, ROSEMARY

Smells like a Catskills trail. Often described as clear-headed and alert.

Caryophyllene

ALSO IN: BLACK PEPPER, CLOVES

Warm and spicy. A favorite in rich, full-bodied evening strains.

Linalool

ALSO IN: LAVENDER, MINT

Soft and floral — the lavender-field note. Often described as soothing.

Humulene

ALSO IN: HOPS, BASIL, GINGER

Earthy and hoppy, like a good IPA. Rounds out woodsy profiles.

The entourage effect: the working theory that cannabinoids and terpenes do more together than in isolation — it's why full-spectrum products can feel different from pure THC distillate at the same number.

CHAPTER 03 · STRAIN TYPES

Indica · Sativa · Hybrid

The old trail map. Useful as a starting point — but the terpene profile usually predicts the ride better than the label does.

INDICA

"In-da-couch."

Heavier, body-forward, wind-down energy. The after-dinner, record-on lane.

BEST WHEN: EVENING · PORCH · SLOW SUNDAY

SATIVA

Up and at 'em.

Brighter, head-forward, chatty energy. The playlist-making, trail-walking lane.

BEST WHEN: DAYTIME · CREATIVE · SOCIAL

HYBRID

Whatever the breeder wanted.

Most modern strains. Effects follow the specific cross — read the terpenes, ask the counter.

BEST WHEN: ANYTIME · VARIES BY CROSS

HEADS UP: MODERN RESEARCH SUGGESTS TERPENE PROFILES PREDICT EFFECTS BETTER THAN INDICA/SATIVA LABELS. START THERE, THEN TRUST YOUR NOSE.

CHAPTER 04 · METHODS

How you take it changes it

Same plant, six lanes, six different rides. Pick by how fast you want it and how long you want it to last.

Flower

ONSET 1–10 MIN · LASTS 1–3 HRS

The classic. Fast feedback makes it easy to pace yourself. Shop flower.

Prerolls

ONSET 1–10 MIN · LASTS 1–3 HRS

Flower, rolled and ready — zero equipment, easy to share, easy to put down.

Vapes

ONSET 1–10 MIN · LASTS 1–3 HRS

Quick, low-smell, pocketable. Small puffs, short waits between them. Shop vapes.

Edibles & drinks

ONSET 30–120 MIN · LASTS 4–8 HRS

Slowest to arrive, longest to stay. The #1 place to start low and go slow. Shop edibles.

Tinctures

ONSET 15–45 MIN · LASTS 2–6 HRS

Measured drops under the tongue — the most precise, predictable way to dose.

Topicals

WHERE YOU PUT IT · NO HEAD HIGH

Balms and lotions applied to skin. Generally non-intoxicating — the no-buzz lane.

CHAPTER 05 · DOSING

Start low. Go slow.

Especially with edibles. A too-big dose won't hurt you long-term, but it can park you on the couch for an uncomfortable evening. The fix is boring and reliable: small doses, long waits.

THE EDIBLE DOSE-O-METER

2.5 MGFirst-timer starting point
5 MGCommon single serving
10 MGExperienced regulars
20+ MGHigh tolerance only

MOST NY GUMMIES ARE 5–10MG EACH. CUT THEM. GENERAL GUIDANCE, NOT MEDICAL ADVICE.

THE STARTER RULES

01

2.5–5mg if you're new. Quiet evening, no plans, somewhere comfortable.

02

Wait 2 hours before more. Most rough nights start with "this isn't working" at minute 45.

03

Eat something first. An empty stomach makes edibles faster, stronger and less predictable.

04

Mark the wrapper. Cut gummies, write doses down, keep everything locked away from kids and pets.

05

Don't mix with alcohol. It amplifies things unpredictably — let cannabis be the only thing on the ticket.

06

Too high? Water, a snack, somewhere calm — it passes. Questions before you dose? Call us: (845) 802-0831.

CHAPTER 06 · FIRST TIME

First visit? Here's the playbook.

01

Bring your ID

21+, valid, any state or country. We check everyone at the door — takes ten seconds.

02

Say it's your first time

Our favorite customers. We'll slow down, show you the cases, and skip the jargon.

03

Start gentle

A 2.5mg edible or a high-CBD pick. You'll feel something — not everything.

04

Pick a comfy spot

Your couch, a friend's porch. Not a concert, not a first date, never a car.

05

Eat & hydrate

A meal beforehand, water within reach. Dry mouth is the most common side effect.

06

Don't mix

No alcohol the first time. On prescriptions? Talk to your doctor first.

07

Give it time

Edibles are slow. Two full hours before you even think about more.

08

Have an exit plan

If it's too much: lie down, breathe, snack, wait. It passes. You're okay.

CHAPTER 08 · NEW YORK FAQ

Things people actually ask

How much can I possess in New York?

Adults 21+ can possess up to 3 ounces of flower and up to 24 grams of concentrate. Keep it out of reach of kids and pets, and don't cross state lines with it.

Can I drive after consuming?

No — impaired driving is illegal in NY, full stop. Plan a ride, wait it out, or make an evening of Kingston. We'll happily point you to good takeout.

Where can I legally consume?

Generally on private property with the owner's blessing, and broadly where tobacco smoking is allowed. Never in a vehicle, and not in schools, workplaces or on federal land. Local rules vary — when in doubt, take it home.

Do I need a medical card to shop here?

Nope — we're adult-use. Anyone 21+ with valid government ID can shop, including visitors from out of state. Delivery works the same way — ID at the door.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?

It might — even hemp-derived CBD can carry trace THC. If you're tested for work, have that conversation before trying any cannabis product.

Can I grow at home in New York?

Yes — adults 21+ can grow up to 3 mature and 3 immature plants (household caps apply). Check the current rules at cannabis.ny.gov.
